Today I decided to write a post to help people avoid easy mistakes you might make when starting a new business!
#1 Social Media's - As a new business the best and most effective Advertising you can do when starting out is to create a Facebook Business Page and Instagram Account.
#2 Create A Website - When starting out the biggest mistake businesses make now days which is not creating a Website for their business. There are many services that help you create affordable, effective websites to help reach more customers, help you business look more legit and help you stand our from the crowd.
Now you could simply buy a domain name from Google Domains that matches your business like "example.com", and use Google to create a simple site to start off with. Through this process you can create custom informational pages, create forms and even contact pages so your customers can get in touch with you. This service is completely free, you just simply pay for your domain for as many years as you want to own your domain starting at around £10.00 each year - 10 years = £100.00 its a simple as that.
#2 Don't Be Pressured By Businesses Don't let other companies make you feel like you need to purchase their services to succeed, this is a selling technique that many companies like Yell use which can make you feel like their offering you a really good deal! They Aren't!
Instead look for companies that offer free business listings which cost you nothing to create. I've learned from experience and dealing with many different members of staff. Look for free business directories where you can list your business for free - places like FourSquare, Yelp, Google Business and even BING Business.
#3 Google Business Listing - Google is the largest search engine on the planet and is probably the best place to advertise your business completely free just by going to Here and creating a free Google Business Profile so whenever someone searches for your business you should appear in the search results as long as you fill in all the information on your Business Profile which will help you rank higher and Google will see you as more legitimate.
#4 Know Your Competition - Research other businesses in your genre! Use some of the business listings above to search for businesses within a 10 mile, 15 mile or however far you want your business to reach radios. Check there prices and don't be afraid to price match or cheekily undercut their prices, but make sure your still making a decent margin because you don't want to give your Services/Products away for free.
